Blue Brazilian Columnar Cactus 35cm

Make a statement with this impressive Pilosocereus pentaedrophorus hybrid. With its tall, upright growth and distinctive blue-green stems, this columnar cactus brings a sculptural, almost otherworldly look to a bright interior or sheltered outdoor space. At approximately 180cm tall, it is a real feature plant for anyone wanting something a little different from the usual indoor greenery.

Plant Details

• Scientific Name: Pilosocereus pentaedrophorus hybrid
• Nursery Pot Size: 35cm
• Approximate Height: 180cm standing
• Growth Habit: Tall, upright, columnar growth
• Colour: Blue-green stems with a natural, waxy-looking surface
• Spines: Long, yellow to straw-coloured spines grow from the raised ribs. Handle with care, and avoid rubbing or touching the stems unnecessarily, as the blue surface can mark easily.
• Flowers: Mature plants can produce small white flowers from green buds, although flowering is not guaranteed in indoor conditions.

A Note on Size

The 35cm nursery pot refers to the diameter of the pot, not the height of the cactus. This plant stands approximately 180cm tall. As each cactus grows naturally, its shape, colour and spine development may vary.

Plant Care

This cactus needs very bright light to thrive. A position with plenty of natural sunlight is ideal, but introduce it to stronger direct sun gradually to avoid sun damage. Use a free-draining cactus mix and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering during cooler months, when growth slows.

Avoid leaving the pot sitting in water, and protect it from prolonged cold and wet conditions. Given its size and spines, choose a stable position with enough room around it.

Make It Complete

Pair it with a simple, substantial cover pot to complement its height and architectural shape. Cactus and succulent potting mix is also available at City Jungle for suitable drainage when repotting.
